We are seeking an individual, who has demonstrated a willing
commitment to these values, holding them in high regard, to join
our team at the Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center as
Building Maintenance Crew Chief.
The purpose of this position is to maintain the integrity of the
Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center and Cedar Hill Senior
Center by supervising the daily maintenance operations of the
facilities. This is accomplished by overseeing daily operations,
coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance. This position is
responsible for supervising facility maintenance workers and
performing administrative tasks to ensure compliance with
regulatory codes. Additional duties include maintaining
relationships with service contractors, as well as interfacing with
other City employees, Citizens, and visitors to the Alan E. Sims
Recreation Center and Cedar Hill Senior Center.
- Provides premier customer service to internal and external
customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional
- Ensures efficient operations of facility systems by checking
and servicing systems and changing air conditioner filters.
Services air conditioning systems by making repairs to air
conditioning and heating equipment, performing preventative
maintenance, changing filters, cleaning units and inspecting
- Services electrical systems by repairing switches, plugs,
equipment control, circuit breakers and faulty wiring, running pipe
or conduit for various reasons such as feeding telephone or
computer cables and setting up new electrical circuits when
- Performs carpentry duties by painting and plastering walls,
repairing doors, wallpaper and sheetrock.
- Maintains lighting services by changing bulbs and replacing
defective parts such as conventional and electronic ballast, photo
cells, timer and switches, sockets and wiring.
- Administers general repairs by providing repair services such
as door and window, leaks, roofing, painting, carpentry, sheetrock
repairs, tool and equipment repairs and cabinet and counter
- Administers plumbing repairs by fixing leaks in faucets, valves
and water fountains, clearing drains such as sinks, toilets and
mains and repairing fixtures.
- Provides direction to employees by monitoring and observing
work activities, scheduling employees for shifts and ensuring
quality control of job tasks.
- Oversees the implementation and monitors the work of contracts
with service contractors.
- Oversee and supervise assigned building maintenance/custodial
staff responsible for repairs and cleanliness of the Recreation
Center. Assist with hiring/firing/supervising/scheduling/evaluating
- Regular attendance required.
- Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic
operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge
equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
- At least three years of related experience required.
- Valid Texas Driver's License (Class C)
- Must have HVAC certification.
- EPA Universal Technician Certification or ability to obtain
this license within six months of employment.
- Must be available for after-hour calls as needed.
