Principal Embedded Software Architect, you'll immerse yourself in
Strategic Nuclear Deterrence, bringing your acumen to the forefront

to help grow the skills you will need to become a subject matter

Do:
- Define, evolve, and document system and software architecture
across mission-critical embedded platforms, ensuring scalability,
traceability, and integration with model-based design
artifacts.
- Serve as the technical lead for cross-functional concerns by
defining interfaces, allocating system functions to software, and
aligning with program-level architectural constraints.
- Collaborate with systems engineering, software development,
test, and integration teams to ensure architectural alignment and
lifecycle continuity across all software components.
- Mentor and guide engineering teams in architectural best
practices, modularity, code structure, and performance tradeoffs in
real-time systems.
- Drive architecture-level decisions throughout the development
lifecycle and serve as the primary author and reviewer of key
technical artifacts (e.g., ICDs, software architecture documents,
integration plans).
- Ensure traceability between architectural design decisions and
requirements, test cases, and program objectives.What You Will

you.Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering
or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience
or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5years.
- Minimum5years of experience in embedded systems development,
with at least2years serving in an architecture or technical
leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience architecting software within regulated,
safety-critical, or mission-assured environments.
- Demonstrated experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering
(MBSE), system decomposition, and interface control across
disciplines.
- Experience with software lifecycle processes, configuration
control, and change management in high-integrity development
environments.Qualifications We Prefer:
- Extensive experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS),
including development, debugging, and performance optimization of
embedded software applications.
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or nuclear
command-and-control systems governed by standards such as DO-178C,
MIL-STD-498, or equivalent.
- Experience leading teams through software design reviews,
independent technical assessments, and customer audits.
- Familiarity with architecture modeling tools (e.g., Cameo,
Rhapsody), and experience contributing to digital thread
ecosystems.
- Exposure to Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and
understanding of architecture's impact on program cost and

- 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate
representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several
factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the
